Our Griot’s Garage 3″ Polisher is perfect on a Porsche 911 mirror detail

Check out my DIY setup for polishing the mirror on my Porsche 911. Watch my other video on how to make this.

So I can’t talk enough about how much I love my Griot’s garage 3 inch polisher with my DIY extension, a 2 inch backing plate and a 2 inch pad. This set up allows me to get into hard to reach places like rims, door jams, and engine compartments.

Not to mention a ton of uses on motorcycles, ATVs, boats. make sure to head over to YouTube and check out some of my videos where you can see this polisher with extension in action. I’ve got a video where I’m polishing the door jam on my Porsche 911, the Side view mirror and I’ll be uploading a video using this set-up with a brush to do leather seats.

There are so many uses for this extension. I would love to buy the Rupes Nano ibrid but I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the $400 price tag (Update: I bought it anyway), which is why I came up with this hack that I found online at Autogeeks called the Hernandez polisher. I’ll put a link to the page on autogeek‘s so you can see where I found this extension idea. I didn’t make this up, I just thought it was a really cool idea and I wanted to try it myself to see if it really was as handy as it looked.

As you can tell by my videos, it is very handy and I use it very often now in all different areas of a cars interior and exterior hard to reach areas. My Porsche 911 mirror detail was a snap with this setup.

I found the Rupes Ibrid Nano long neck on sale at Detailed Image and bought it. I’ll do a write-up and review of this great machine soon. When it comes to DIY auto detailing, the Rupes iBrid Nano may be overkill but the battery operation makes it incredibly versatile.
