These Transmission Extensions work great for a DA Polisher Extension right out of the box.

If you’ve already seen any of my other posts or videos where I talked about the “Hernandez Polisher” DA Polisher Extension that I recreated myself, and thought you wanted one for your DA. I found an option that won’t require any DIY on your part. Turns out some GM transmissions use a 5/16-24t linkage and companies sell an extension for the trans. I guess the applications would be if you moved the linkage or if you performed a motor/trans swap and needed to extend the shifter linkage. Not sure, but I do know it makes a great DA polisher extension on my Griot’s Garage 3″ polisher.

The package I bought on Amazon came with two different length extensions and works great right out of the box! No need to buy threaded rod and couplers. No need to use a hacksaw to get the desired length of rod. All you need, like lots of things today is access to Amazon. Here’s a picture of the extension along with the DIY version and the DIY parts needed to make your own.

I like the shorter transmission extension on my GG3. It makes a great DA Polisher Extension and it just feels right and the long one doesn’t seem as well balanced or straight. I’m also a little concerned about premature wear on the polisher when the extension gets too long. The additional pressure with the extra leverage may over time start to wear out the head bearing on the little Griot’s Garage 3″.

I’m sure a more robust and durable polisher will have no trouble but for just over a $100, the GG3 wasn’t made for a long DA polisher extension. I think my DIY version is the best out of all three shown about but I’m probably just biased 🙂 No really, it’s the perfect length, perfectly straight and was cheaper. Thanks for visiting and come back soon.

ChatGPT is getting better all the time and I highly recommend playing around with it. It’s pretty amazing how far AI has come in a short amount of time. You can ask it ChatGPT questions and it will return some pretty amazing answers. Here’s a link to OpenAI if you want to try it out for yourself. Have fun and make sure you check out the Dalle 2.0 project for AI generated imagery. It’s equally impressive in its last version. Just type in what kind of image you want and it will generate an original image.
